Finishing this game!
Ok. Everybody is an expert in everything, the dragon was turned to steaks easily, I have the firestaff, and I am on the Chaos level in the far room with both doors closed. If I open the door, Chaos will come in. What now? I've fluxcaged the hell out of the room and exhausted all possibilities with the firestaff. All I manage to do is teleport Chaos out of the room. Is there something I've forgotten here? I've been stumped for over a decade when I first started playing on my Amiga 500. Now I have an emulator for the PC and need to find closure.
Re: Finishing this game!
You need to place fluxcages on each one of the free spaces around chaos, then fuse him. Of ccourse, chaos is very fast at teleporting and running from these. Best bet is to wait on the far size of the room with the two squares jutting fron the corner of the room. If you lure him here, then fluxcage the corner square, then if you can force chaos into either square here he is easy prey. Note that lord chaos will retreat from a fuse shot, so you can use it to move him.
Fusing Chaos is not an easy task, at least for me. The first time I played DM many years ago on my Atari 520 ST, I had a hard time to succed. My party was Darou,Elija,Wutse and Chany. Chany died but Chaos got fused. Recently, thanks to DM for PC, from here, I played DM again. I was not able to fluxcage Chaos who kept teleporting away, so I gave up. Could it be that it is more difficult to finish the game with a faster computer ? Who knows how timing is affected by processor speed ? Good luck fusing Chaos.
The only time I had any difficulty to fuse Lord Chaos was when I went to the little room at the top left and got the Flamit. It was years ago on my old Atari 520 STF. By then, I had already finished the game twice with no difficulty (just a little time to get used to Chaos' timing). The thing is to entrap him into an alcove (pushing him with the "fuse" spell) and fluxcage the exit. Then you can safely fuse him. One thing I regret about the atari version is that on the PC you don(t have Lord Grey's speech. You know: "thank you my friends, you haev restored balance" and so on... and there is no fame hall either... Instead is an animation, which is not worse, of course! I would have loved having both!
