Are old post being ERASED?????

Post by Zyx »

I can't access the old posts, where Chaos, Halk WonderBarbarian and Dan where talking... Such a pity, as many of them were very interesting. Did anyone make a backup? Is there a way to access the old posts? Should we complain to insidetheweb? (After all, this board is running for some time (2 years?), still active, and has hundreds of posts...)

Been there, done that. I complained to insidetheweb several times about this, and they said that the moderator has an option to re-instate old posts if they're not showing up. But of course, the moderator has disappeared.

If anyone knows how to get in touch with Daniel, see if you can get him to come back and sort out those problem posts!

Posts have a maximum life of 999 days I believe, so chances are the oldest posts are deleted automatically.

I think you're right. There was loads of interesting stuff there, including George's early posts about the development of DMute.
I think the threads were up to at least 450, now it's only about 250. There have been other problems in the past too, where several months worth of posts have disappeared. I that was a separate problem, and that's what I complained to InsideTheWeb about. If you look at page 9, you'll see that everything between 28 Nov 1999 and 31 May 2000 disappeared.
