I am a nostalgic of Dungeon Master, which I had played many years back.
Unfortunately, I can't get the sound to work, either in DOS or win98. I have tried the Sound blaster 16 emulation, and I do see the sound Blaster choice in the game config, but hear no ingame sounds whatsoever in both DOS or Win98. Has anyone solved this issue in any way? I have no ISA slots in my computer!

RE: SB Live! with D.M.
Two possible solutions here.. I pretty sure that Creative made sb-pro (16/32, etc) simulator software for the Live. I think it was a win9x-only driver.
Also, you can get WinAUE working and play the Amiga version of D.M. I just did this today and it works! Make sure you click the stereo button! I think the Amiga version is the best version of DM anyway. ??

RE: SB Live! with D.M.
I downloaded WinAUE because I had similar problems with my Soundblaster PCI 128.
Do I really have to pay for the Kickstart-ROM and the OS-Disk, or can I get it
elsewhere for free?! ...my old Amiga disks are all gone...

BTW, Kickstart files are somewhere free on the web. I got three different versions within 2 minutes using www.google.com, a fine search engine.
Second, I hate the fact that the WinUAE version is slow! I have a decent system (Athlon800/192/Voodoo3), but the game does not react immediately to clicks (just like the amiga!), it's pretty fast, but not instantaneous as the PC version.. this means I often run into walls, etc. Not worthy of todays technology.
As for the Sound Blaster emulation, I did install the official creative sound blaster Vibra 16 driver, (no luck), and then the official 'live!ware' SB16 emulation files. I now see the 'SB16 emulation' device within device manager. The 'diagnose' DOS utility from creative works perfectly and plays sounds within DOS. So it is clear that I have no device conflicts. Now Shouldn't that work? I can only blame the game...

There is no way to sort out the problems with the sound on our (apparantly sophisticated) sound cards. As for the Kickstart ROM (version 3.1)....am I allowed to post a url on here? ummm well if not someone can tell me off....I got it from here....
http://amiga.itgo.com/kick31.zip
Sorry for posting a url if it's not allowed.

This may help you a lot!
Try these urls:
Amiga 3.1 rom:
http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~cfarm ... amiga.html
Return to Chaos homepage(link below). I'm not sure if it has the whole DM dungeon or not, but either way, it is a standard windows application and works fine with my sblive.
http://www.mrao.cam.ac.uk/~gg215/dm/RTC.html
Also, a Dungeon Master Java came out a week ago! It rocks. Here is the url:
http://www.cs.pitt.edu/~alandale/dmjava/index.html
It is a totally new game.
Have fun.
