list of item powers

Post by Slick »

Is there anyplace I can find a list of the more subtle benefits of the various items of Dungeon Master and Dungeon Master II:Legond of Skullkeep?

I never did figure out what the Hellon or the Jewel Symbol did in DM1 for instance.

I'm willing to guess that the cross thingie seemed to increase the chance of casting priest abilities, but I'm not sure about that. I've found lists where it shows the stats raised and the commands used, but I've never seen a list that even tells you what the illuminet does, and that one is pretty obvious.

The illumulet isn't as obvious as you might think. Yes, it does give off light, but to what effect? It actually prevents the light level from dropping to the lowest value, so that you can always just about see what's going on. It's therefore not worth wearing two of them as there's no extra benefit.

No-One seems to know what the Hellion does. The Jewel Symal adds 15 to Anti-Magic (you can find that out from the item list on this site - have you looked at it?)

Paul Stevens reverse engineered the Chaos Strikes Back code and found some other attributes of objects. I can't remember them exactly, but the information should be on these forums somwhere. Beowuuf should know what they all do...?

lOl..ok, according to Paul Steven's findings:

Gem of Ages increases an (internal) wizards skil level
Ekhart cross increases an (internal) priest level

So you can't see these level going up, but cast a potion, for example, that you couldn't and you will find it then is castable...that kind of thing

The rabbit's foot and cursed armour increease/decrease an (internal) luck factor that is used for combat and spellcasting

For DM2, most things are actually visible - the fire armour especially, the plate increases a fighter level, the polyen your carrying capacity, tech helm wisdom (i think)

That's what I remember off the top of my head. Oh, excepot in DM2 the benefits of some items are gained whether it is in your sheathe/quiver, pouch, of in the party hand

Im kinda skeptical about the Gem of Ages increasing a wiards skill level, because the pendant fernal does the same thing, and it shows up when you click on the eye. So does the FireStaff (and every other level). I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of the list, so I can check out the attributes of the various items, and possibly find out if the armor of Darc is worth the extra weight over the mirthil armor, even with the characters Hulk, Stamm, Sonja, and Hisssa.

The Gem of Ages apparantly increases an internal statistic associated with your wizard level - so you won't see it anywhere.

Yup, that's apparently what it's doing. Download CSB 4 windows, there is a skills.txt where he talks about this.
Seriously, cast some spells to your limits, then wear the gem of ages and cast a level above...it's really doing something, just not visible.

I've started to included a list of (visible) effects of DM2 items on my facts/rumours page on the jump-site if anyone (Christophe?) wants to see them. It's by no means complete yet.

I'm afraid no one knows hard facts yet about these things (well, no one who's shared them on these boards anyway)...so until someone actually finds the coded effects of these things through hacking, it's mostly speculation. I'd think the armour of darc is the best armour, at the weight price, while the armour of lyte is probably only slightly better than plate, but with less weight. That's what i'd go with, anyway. : )

Yeah that's what I think (the armours). Especially considering the Lords(?) of Lyte and Dark were supposed to have once worn them (?)
