Questions on level 2

Post by Celine »

Hello, I'm finally going to finish this game! I've never made it past level 8, but I have watched someone else play the whole thing. I usually pick the standard 4-man party, but I'm using only reincarnated Chani and Azizi this time.

I just finished level 2 (choose your door choose your fate) and I have some questions I can't find answers to by looking at the maps and reading the guides. Each of the 6 rooms provides you with one gold key. To finish the floor, you only need 4. Is it then necessary to complete more than 4 rooms? Do the keys come in useful somewhere else? I did not do Creature Cavern, because I don't think there is anything interesting in there. Also, I seem to have a silver coin in my inventory as I leave level 2. Will there be a later use for this or should I remove it from inventory to conserve space?

...and does anyone know why Chani's health occasionally goes down while sleeping? Her magic is restored so much faster than her health!

You can finnish that level with only 3 rooms if you save one gold key on level above (bash one of the doors instead).

By doing 4/5 rooms (and having 5 keys) you can get some goodies in the last room of the level. Namely mail aketon and empty flask, and something very usefull if you look carefully around...

If you save the blue gem from the Room of the Gem you can skip practically all of level 4 (Treasure Stores level, winged snakes and poison slimes).

Saving an extra gold key allows you to open 'Shortcut' and 'Shortcut back' on the worm level, if you miss the (quite well) hidden gold key on that level. This allows you to skip two worm generators when going either way on that level.

So, 'best' way is to bash the door on level 1, do every room except Room of the Gem fully and save the gem. You can skip one room completely if you wish (but you need to find the key on Worm level if you want to open the shortcut).

After worm level, if you have extra gold keys you can throw them away. They're not needed after that. (I'm not 100% sure, so throw them away someplace where you can find them again! :-P)

What is the point of the blue gem?

The only point in the game where you need a silver coin is at level 14 to open a door to an altar of rebirth. But since in this level you can find some silver coins scattered on the floor (which should should search after killing the dragon, they're not easy to find), you can as well throw it away.

I cannot answer the health question, if it's not due to poisoning. MAybe low stamina does affect health when recovering.

I prefer to cleanse every room af any monsters and gather all equipment available. No Prisoners!

SPOILER about Blue Gem, don't read if you don't mean it! (It's pretty easy to figure out anyhow once you get to that point of game :)

--------

Blue Gem is answer to one of the riddles on level 5 (skeletons). You can find several in the Treasure Stores level above, or you can skip that level if you saved the gem from Level 2 (Room of the Gem).

There is a ridiculously easy route through the Treasure Stores....

Don't read if you haven't been there.....

You don't even have to meet a flying snake. Enter the room straight forward, and step RIGHT as you get to the first transporters. There is the mirror of dawn. Come out and take the door on your left from the first hallway (from your perspective now, or the right door if you have just entered). Go past the combination room, open the iron door via the crack switch and there's a blue gem. Now if you have got the gold coin and bow from the worms then you have done all you need to do (for the riddle room). You can finish the level in about 30 seconds. Though I don't recommend doing it this way as there is quite a bit to explore here (unless you are going for a time record...)

hmm... interesting! You don't really need the gold coins on level 3, except to open the teleporter halfway through level 3, and then solve the puzzle in the riddle room, right? The magenta worms seem to provide plenty.

Since I'm forced to play through the game again, I will bash through the door on level 1 and see how helpful that is. I might keep the gem with me this time, too.
