Fighting technique

Post by Wil »

This is the one I use most often:

In a corridor:
The monsters step in, my 2 front fighters attack them, the party steps back.
The monsters step in....

In a hall:
The monsters step in, my 2 front fighters attack them.
The party steps sideways, and turns around 90°, waiting for them.
Sometimes, they come the other way and the party must turn around another time.

It doesn't do with very speedy monsters.
You must use the keyboard.

Very rarely do I allow monsters to hit the party.
Is it sort of cheating?
I hear of people taking rests and going to fight, discharging loads of "ful ir".

Nah, those are standard
Also is the simple 'load the front chatacrers with health potions, have everyone cast health potions, and stand toe to toe...if necessarygenerate a ya ir shield'

With spellcasters, added double check to make sure not beside a wall, or several backsteps to a corridor corner/out of range until they fire, then run up, thump, and run away again
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!

There's another very useful technique, to use the frightening items such as Teo wand, horn, claw... Most monsters will flee, included dragons & Chaos!
This way you can kill a dragon with your berzekers in a corridor.

Some monsters don't care:
Knights
Demons
Screamers
