Hello Dungeon Master Fans!
I wanted to start my very own DM Clone(yep, another one... :-) ) project and was wondering if someone had comprehensive game mechanics informations?
I think that this could be very interresting for all wannabe RPG programmer's since understanding the way such an ALL TIME CLASSIC game works would indeed be a solid base reference.
Many aspect of the game are pretty much self explanatory, but I lack precise details on how fights are managed, exp point distributed, damage dealt... Well every aspect of the behind the scene process would be useful.
So... If anyone out there know or know how to know... please tell :-)
Regards!
P.S. As a matter of fact, I think that for the sake of this site's completeness, a complete section could be added to discuss every aspects of the game. (i.e. algorythms and methods used to generate the pseudo 3D view, it's easy to figure that out alone but it's time consuming and many have already used a huge amount of time on that for instance). This site has already deserved his encyclopedia title, it's by far the MOST complete on the matter, but with the help of all talented folks out there, it could be the first to be really EXHAUSTIVE :-)

Re: DM Game Mechanics
Well, best start is probably to have a closer look upon far developed existing clones and editors like CSBWin, DMute, RTC and so on and forage through their fora, you might gather more information there than you'd think. And you might contact the programmers of those clones there, which are probably the right persons to ask.
Parting is all we know from Heaven, and all we need of hell.

Also, in late summer/fall Gambit's page will be online for which he promised to provide more exhaustive information on many details not covered in order so far. Until then you'll have enough to do looking at the editors and clones around I guess ;)

Re: DM Game Mechanics
Don't get excited; I'm not remotely interested in the internal mechanics of the game itself, and the site won't have anything on there at that level of detail. It's a HISTORY of FTL and the development of the DM games, but not from a technical viewpoint. For that, the Encyclopedia is the still the best place to visit.
