He's just interpreted information from the official FTL strategy guide, The Secrets of Dungeon Mastery. It was written by Tracy Hickman (of Dragonlance fame) before the game came out, so it lists some things that didn't make it into the game (Amulet of Duga, calista having special powers).

More interesting is the fact that he claims "plate mail" is better then "chain mail", when in reality mithril armor is better then plate (in DM anyway) in every aspect!
