Edit level information

Post by Zyx »

Edit level information:

1) In the edit level information, could you sort by order (when pressing the new button):
the wall decorations
the floor decorations
the door decorations

2) Also there are 9 floor decorations and 12 door decorations for a maximum of 15. I think the "maximize dungeon size" should automaticly add these for all levels.

3) I think also that, by default, door types A and B shouldn't be the same.

4) Could you add a "Edit level" button on the tool bar?

5) Could you add a "Edit DSA" button on the tool bar?

1) & 2)

We have discussed these things at some length already.
I, as chief honcho of this project, have more or less vetoed
these suggestions after a bit of a fight. There is no reason
this number cannot grow if we get a little smarter. That there
are only 9 and 12 is an accident, not a limit.

3) I can make them different when I create a new level
====================================
4) and 5) Yes.....good ideas. There is lots of room for tools.

Zyx: For your information, I was the one having the "fight" over the sort buttons ;) I issued a similar request, but Paul argued against it since the decorations carry indexes - any "real" sorting would mean changing them throughout the level. And I could not convince Paul to do a "virtual" sorting, leaving the indexes as they were.

"Paul argued against it since the decorations carry indexes "

Sorry, I missed this discussion. But I meant the list of decorations when pressing the New button. There is a fixed border window entitled "Select wall decoration" with the list of ALL the possible decorations (about 60 items). You select one of them which is then added to the current level.
I don't think the indexes of THIS listbox is relevant.
Now if I misunderstood the situation and am still begging for something that has already been discussed, then please just ignore me!

Wow, this sounded very interesting! But this would mean changing the graphics.dat (even changing the structure of the file by adding some new pîctures to be loaded), or having a complementary file a new bitmaps. Or are you thinking in another way?

Decoration list:

Sorry. We spent so much time discussing the other list
that my mind was not open to alternatives.

Yes...I will sort the 'available decorations" list.
=======================================
Additional graphics.

I was not thinking in 'another way'. I was not thinking
about HOW to do it at all. I ain't that smart yet.
But from the point-of-view of the editor (which knows
nothing about graphics.dat problems) we are nowhere
near the limit. Adding more at a future time should only
require extending a list, not changing the structure of the
editor.

Besides, I like it this way! I get something I want occasionally.
