EDITOR: BUG Copy Monsters with Items

Post by chburbe »

:(
Hi

Copying monsters with items does not work proper. You will loose your dungeon, when you try to save!

Try this to reproduce the error:

1. Create a monster
2. Add one item to that monster
3. Copy this monster
4. Delete the item from the copied monster
5. Save the Game --> Crash!!! And only half the dungeon is saved...

Description:

When a monster with an item is copied, it keeps the same reference to that item. When deleting this item, the original monster will miss the item, because it was deleted from the copied monster.

Please create also a new item, when copying monsters or other objects...!

I found this bug also about a month ago and mentioned it to George, you have dont a much better job of describing it than I did though. Now I know exactly why I lost my dungeon. Fortunatly playing the orinaL dm DM long ago taught me anything I do I save often. Actually my Atari 1040STE helped teach me that while playing DM. It would reboot randomly while I was playing DM. There was a surface mount IC chip that had a cold solder joint that lost contact I believe when i beat on my keyboard whilst running thru the dungeon. Seemed like at least 1 million reboots
