Seeing stats in DM PC with some tool

Post by Alex Ander »

Hi all,

I want to know how I can see the luck of my characters. I don't want to edit, just see it. Also I know that this stat continuously changes, it's a factor that doesn't matter for me. Maybie I will see 45 and then 35, but then after some tests, I might come to the average luck of the character. I once saw a topic about editing the luck to 99 from a fellow poster, but couln't find it again with the search of these forums.

If you don't eant to change your luck, just view it, then you can use CSBuild to convert your saved game to CSBwin and then use it's 'view luck' tick box to see themin a game
You can keep taking the saved game and converting it, or you can just investigate the luck and its changes through CSBwin to begin with!

Thanks beowuuf.
Does CSBuild work with the saves from DM amiga emulated by WinUAE?
(from DMweb.free.fr)
I am gonna come back with Amiga 500/500+, but I don't know how the thing works to start with...really a beginner here.

I have downloaded the game, then the Emulator, then the Amiga Emulation Kit.
I have uncompressed WinUAE and the Amiga Emulation Kit (+ "ipflib_amigaos-m68k" at the same time now, and I don't have anymore the message cannot find Quickstart 3.1 and 1.3) in the same folder on my hard drive.
I didn't fixed 3 things though as I don't know what to do really:

from DMweb.free.fr:
(1) select the correct configuration (?amiga 500+ instead of amiga 500/2000?)
in the list and click the "Load" button.
If you want to use the .IPF image, (2)you have to replace the .ADF in the floppies tab (it means the floppy folder, where I did put my DM game file? How?).
Then click OK to play the game. Use F12 to go back to the options.

Note:
Formatting save game disks does not work under WinUAE. (3)You must use ( another emulator like Fellow to do that. Note that the archives on this site contain)(3)a preformatted save game disk.(also went to the site, did not found it)

If you are having that much hassle just play DM under CSBwin - hassle free emulation of the classic : )

I would prefer running an Amiga emulator for Dungeon Master. I always wanted to know how an emulator works (how simple it could be), then I might use it for some other old games after.
I believe also that one can keep his characters for Chaos Strike Backs, and the game would run closely to the original Dungeon Master.

But please don't believe you have to answer my last post cause you replied to my first one! Maybie someone else can help.

I keep crashing, but no one else seems to be answering so I'll try again to answer this!

1) The configurations all seem to be based on the games not the hardware set up. Really, you don't need them - as long as you point to the kick.rom and give yourself a MB or two i nthe RAM config it should run alright
2) This just means that you can swap the files the floppies are pointing to after you load the config. So as I said, if you avoid the config just put whatever DM game you have into df0:
3) I found a disk that works, and posted it in my filespace - Dmsave_e.adf
Christophe, if you are reading this this worked fine for DM360, so I assume it should work alright for any amiga dm game?

It works.

I started all over again. I erased everything and downloaded everything again. To use my .ipf file ( ipf? the connoisseurs will understood ;)) I dowloaded the User Plugin from caps-project.org/download.shtml once again, but now for windows, not for amiga... I did everything the same. And it works!

Special thanks to Christophe for the support and the files and links from his site, I wouldn't have been able to play once again the DM game on amiga-emulator without his site and his help.

In the future, I will probably try CSBwin as well, couldn't find a way to see the luck of saved characters under DMPC with CSBuild but my curiousity is now resent to the game itself, and I will definetely try RTC in the future if I have still the virus of DM, monsters of your levels, now that keeps the excitment.

Thanks all.

CSBuild will convert the game to CSBwin, but it's actually an in-game function of CSBwin currently

Anyway, glad it all worked out!

I didn't saw your reply of 9:53 pm until I posted this last one. (I typed a tad longuish) Thanks for the help beowuuf, true, finally it all worked out. :) If your file works I will use it instead of my .idf . Everything should be OK for the basis now, I'd say after that to not download a file for an amiga when your OS is XP!

I tried the thing with DMPC and CSBuild before, that's why I refered to that engine.:.) Thanks for the tip with CSBwin, amazing in-game functions nonetheless.
