Gaining a new level

Post by Florent »

It's a simple thing but I've always liked it on my Amiga and would love to see it in RTC : when gaining a skill level, the level concerned should appear in red like the stats until all stats have reach their new maximum.
Would that be possible please ?

It should do this already - doesn't it?

When a stat is above it's maximum it appears in greed, when below it appears in red.

It does do it for the stats, but not for the skill levels themselves.
When gaining a Priest level, say from Adept to Expert Priest, in the stats panel, "Expert Priest" should be displayed in red (or green, but I think it was red) until all the stats had been raised to their new maximum value (turned to white again).
Sorry for being unclear, hope this is better !

Interesting - I don't ever remember that happening but seems perfectly sensible.

I'll add it to my ever growing list of things to do!

It didn't do it in any version of the game that I remember.

I swear it did for me, on my Amiga version... Maybe not in DM (but I'm pretty sure it did), but for sure in CSB ! I always loved those red skill levels when I leveled up !

I just played CSB under WinUAE and gained a Ninja level : the eye has a red border, and "Journeyman Ninja" was written in green !! I guess I should try it in DM and let you know.

Edit : OK, just tried it in DM under WinUAE. I have the Psygnosis version 3.6, and "Neophyte Ninja" was also displayed in green !

I'm happy to finally verify that I hadn't been dreaming. :P

After having reached a level, you see the level gained, but i think it is only shown the first time you look at the stats after the levelgain-- if you look the second time at the stats, the classlevel isn´t shown anymore, even if there are still strength ect. to gain.
It would be interesting, if the green class indication will vanish when you keep looking at the stats for the first time i.e. very long until all stats are gained.

You're right zoooom, I didn't check this but now that you mention I do recall the level being written in white second time I looked, while there were still some stats in red (in my DM v3.6). It is indeed a good idea (as I said earlier in this topic 8) ) to leave the level in green as long as the stats are red ( = as long as the eye is bordered with red). This might be my CSB version's behaviour.

what if you boost all your stats and then gain a level? then there would be nothing green at all.

Good question... I don't know enough about game mechanics to offer a better solution I'm afraid...
