Reincarnation stats

Post by Andy Mort »

Hello, i am playing the DM and CSB for windows and i notice that when i reincarnate my characters their health, stamina and mana stats drop by roughly a half of their original quotas. From my memory, i thought that when you reincarnate characters, they retain thier original stats but lose any fighter, ninja, priest and wizard levels they had. So while being harder at the start of the game, it allowed you to build up some pretty rock hard guys. Why is this and how can i change it?

Can i just say huge congratulations and thank you's to everyone involved and all those who have contributed to this website. I first started playing this when i was 9-10 years old on the ST and Amiga but never got round to playing CSB with my extra solid characters from DM! Now i find that somebody has finally converted DM and CSB for Windows and i have managed to download the RAR archive and get it to work which for a non-computer bod like me is an achievement!!! Playing this again is a real blast from the past and brings many a nostalgic tear to my eye. A big thank you again for keeping the DM legend alive.

Hi, and welcome to our little obsessed corner of the web.

The 'reducing' behaviour was in all versions of CSB -- for that extra challenge! But if you're using CSBWin, you can opt for the rules from DM where you retain the full stats. Just select "DM Rules" from the Misc menu before you start a new game.

This is mostly irrelevant, but I find it hilarious that "reducing" used to mean "losing weight" ... and for some reason my tired brain is trying to make a joke about the reduced stats. Or something. Please ignore me.

The first time I started through CSBwin, without the DM rules turned on but playing DM instead of CSB, I couldn't figure out how my stats could possibly be so small. It was amazing when I learned that my many times dying weren't ALL my fault!

almost reported it as a bug....glad i took the time to check it out again and realise it was user error : )
