Yes good idea. We are getting too many people registering for no apparent 'purpose'...

It may also be a good idea to delete persons approaching 5000 posts as this will surely save a lot of space too.

some people would rather be silent rather than say something worthless. However, the benefit to the user account for those people is that they know where the new posts are. Which I think is fine.

Anyway, how about we do a mass mail about the issue. I'm willing to deal with the bounced emails for bogus email accounts but at least then someone who doesn't come here often will know.

I did send a mass email about it earlier -- maybe it didn't work? Has anyone received an email about it?

No mass mail to me here

Eh, maybe in the mass mail to 0 post people you can suggest lurking is fine, if they want to introduce themselves in the 'hello' forum at least

Post n°1. Exciting!
I don't want to die :)

A lot of my spare time is currently devoted to dig into DM/CSB resources, so I have little time to post here. But reading posts provides me invaluable information.
Thanks to all!

beowuuf,
do you really try to reach 5000 posts this day? Perhaps is there an "archmaster+1" level after 5000 :)

Nevertheless, because I don't yet try to play to World of Warcraft, DM is my all time favourite game and it is eating all my time... How is it possible? Why new games seem to be stay under DM? It must be me...

LOL, never ntoiced I was that close
Nah, save it for another day...

There is a level at 5000 posts now, but no one will see it until Gambit hits the mark, I have a sepcialist rank : )

And DM is just a great game, nice feel and gameplay : ) Simple to get into, hard to get out of

Well - Dungeon Master simply is the best game of all time, and I am pretty sure I am not the only one on this board thinking so. ;) And Beo, will there be a party with Cherry Coke and pie for your 5000th post? :P

I have deleted a bunch of recent spammers and will be going through the database in detail over the weekend and deleting all the Russian spam sign-ups and anyone who has 0 posts and hasn't posted anything in over 6 months. No warnings. This board is becoming overrun with useless fake users and I've had enough.

I've also activated the email confirmation for new users, so people can no longer easily register automatically -- they need to confirm their email address before the account will be activated. This should help eliminate chancers...

If you're a genuine lurker and want your account preserved, email me: mh12225054@hotmail.com

Gambit, on my message board I have set up a global ban of all @freemail.ru email addresses (the few spammers I got all had that kind of e-mail address). Check out the spammers e-mail addresses to see if you could ban certain domain names...
