Capture Lord Chaos

Post by Tampico »

Does anyone have any good suggestions on how I can capture Lord Chaos on Level 13 and complete the game. I have tried unsuccessfully thus far to get him

Thanks

Well, the way I normally do it is to stand in the area which is near the passage leading to level 14 (Dragon level), 'cause there's enough space to build a Fluxcage there. Get lucky and have no Demons or Lord Chaos in the area when you go there (if there are, run away down the corridor and wait a bit till they've bogged off if you can't be arsed to try killing 'em). Then I stand in one square so I have four empty squares around me and cast a Fluxcage in three of them, leaving the fourth empty. I face this empty space and wait, turning round every few seconds to refresh the Fluxcages so they don't disappear. Eventually Lord Chaos shows up, and should walk round to the empty space in the cage (he won't walk or cast spells through a Fluxcage wall so you can't make all four sides and wait for him like that). Expect to get a Fireball or something in your face around this time, but as soon as he's right in front of you, cast the last Fluxcage, then step back and he should step forward (into the space within the four cage walls where you were just standing). Fuse the walls, and BOOM, hello Grey Lord :).
Of course, this is how I do it...I'm sure various people have different strategies, it's whatever works best for you I suppose :).

quite same as you do but i rather use a wall for the 4th fluxcage : when Chaos is on a tile next to the wall it's very easy to make 3 fluxcages around him. if Chaos isn't surrounded by cages and i feel danger, i fuse him, so that he teleports somewhere else in the room.

Or try a corner of the room and use two walls, or even in the little 2x2 room with ra doors. Remember, he only has to be in a position that when fused he is surrounded by walls or fluxcages.

Ooh I didn't know that - I thought he had to be surrounded on all four sides by Fluxcage. Well, that might make it a bit easier next time I play...

I think the flammit is in there anyway.

Yeah there's a little room in the corner of the level containing (according to my map) the Flammit, but I never go there...I finish it at the other end of the dungeon by the corridor leading to level 14.

Personally I much prefer the exact opposite end of the level to the flammit room, those two alcoves - you let him come while you are in one alcove, drive him off with a fuse, hopefully he goes into the other alcove, and if he does you fluxcage the centre square, stand in it, and boom - fuse chaos.

Unfortunately that end of the room is also furthest from the two entrance corridors, so you have more chance of running into Demons and Fire Elementals on the way. When I did this solo a couple of months ago I found it impossible to emerge into the main room from the corridor leading from leel 12 because the Fire Elementals on each side just ate me instantly. Since I can never be arsed with buffs and stuff to increase fire protection and stuff, I ended up just using the corridor from level 14 to get into the room to kill Chaos in my usual spot.
Still, it doesn't really matter where you trap him I suppose, as long as you manage to zap the fooker eventually ;).
