Command Queue

Post by Antman »

After reading the topic comparing RTC and and CSBWin i decided to play through normal DM on RTC, so far im up to the worm level. The main thing which really annoys me is that there is no command queue, you have to hit each button then wait for a delay, then hit the next. It makes every move individual instead of just being it able to move through the dungeon seeing what is ahead and hitting the movement buttons before you get there, which destroys the flow of the game for me. I also read that Sera said in her new dungeon dungeon that you would need much agility and speed to get through, the exact thing that a command queue would be useful for.

Its frustrating that monsters attack you straight away when you move up to them, which makes you have to wait more, let them make the first move instead of you because you know they will attack you. I dont like the fact that if you are fighting a monster or monsters and you dont get hit and land lots of blow on your enemies, after a while you cease to deal damage untill you get hit again. Is it to do with a hidden luck skill that increases when you get hit and decreases when you hit or something?

Enjoying the game though , will play through to the end then try out some custom dungeons :) .

No idea.

Can you send me a save game with the party in this state (i.e. in front of a monster but when you hit them, it does no damage). I can then take a look at the internal state (luck etc) and see exactly what the root cause of the problem is and fix it.

All the other things you suggested have already been fixed ready for the next version (apart from the command queue, which I'm looking at right now!).

Cool! I'll see if i can generate the fighting thing again, but it was probably just me getting impatient with a few misses or something. Anway i finished my game! Enjoyed it alot, and even more once i had the boots of speed.

I think the stone golems are way too slow, they take ages to move anywhere, so you get impatient and you walk up to them and they hit you for over 249, which is the health of your character so he dies instantly :) In my case anyway. I couldn't get past those black flames at the entrance to chaos's place either as they auto hit me, auto killing me. So i was stuck between them and the only other way to the bottom level was past a stone golem on level 7 which took ages to move, seriously like 10-15 minutes for a few squares and i was sleeping most of the time.

Anyway ill try out the surgical strike dungeon soon.

This might be a silly question, but have you considered that the party may be facing in the wrong direction?
If a monster attacks you from the side when a monster is in front of you, often the party will turn sideways and start attacking the monster to the side of you. When it dies, the party doesn't face front again until the monster in front of you attacks and the party responds, causing the effect that blows are being struck in the wrong direction.

I did this several times before I worked out what was going on. You have to click on the party members in the upper right hand corner and then drop them again to make them face front. As far as I know, this is exactly the same behaviour as DM.

Party members will also auto-turn to face front again if you have them cast a spell - you can melee-hit to the side but you can't accidentally nuke yourself that way if there's a wall next to you ;).
