Items consume mana instead of charges?

Items consume mana instead of charges?

Post by Sophia »

With the addition of the ability to customize attack methods (really cool, btw!), could this be made one of the options?

I believe the wand/teo-wand, firestaff (and others maybe?) in DM worked this way, anyway, and it could make for some more interesting items...

Possibly - I'll have a look at that part of the engine and see how easy it is to add the option.

The wand/teo-wand consume mana AND charges in DM. Firsetaff consumes Mana only, and it depends on your skill level. I wrote a whole thread on this several years ago after doing lots of experimentation:

Now fixed for V0.35.

Note that it's not quite the same as the original game, but you can now specify the amount of mana that is taken from a character when using any attack method. This is alot more flexible than the original (i.e. it isn't tied to wands and the amount per attack is configurable) but doesn't have the variability by level of the caster (which isn't as easily configurable!).

Well, the latter might be seen as suggestion for V0.36 ;-)
