Fade on ambient sounds options?

Post by Gambit37 »

I notice you've added a blending fade to all ambient sounds, so they fade up/down at when switching or entering levels. This is a really nice touch, but actually problematic for certain sounds (my dungeon entrance sound now doesn't sound right).

Can this please be an option on a per-sound basis, rather than a fixed engine feature?

If not, can you tell me how long the fade lasts, so that I can add that amount of silence to the beginning of my sound (this isn't ideal but would be a possible option).

The fade is non-linear so it's difficult to give an absolute time for it. Having said that, by ear, about 2s seems to be the audible limit.

BTW, the fade only applies to ambient sounds with level scope, for your entrance sound, set it to dungeon scope (or make it a localised one) and you'll be fine.
