What are stats for?

Post by Lunever »

So far I only knew the hidden luck stat among all these other hidden stats ( http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... hp?t=25499 ). Have the others been in FTL-DM too all the time?
With all these independent recovery and resistance stats, what exactly is vitality doing?

I don't know...

Remember this is RTC not DM - I'm making it up as I go along :D

That's what I wanted to know: Luck is known from FTL, but the others have been made up by you for RTC, right?

Aside from that: What DOES vitality do?

I made all of them up (luck was in RTC before it was discovered in DM!).

In RTC it effects the rate of recovery of health and stamina - again, I've no idea what it does in DM.

I always assumed that poison-resistance and water&food-decrement would depend on vitality, seems that I'd been wrong, at least in regard to RTC. Does anyone know how FTL-DM is handling this?

So while the idea of having a separate anti-poison-stat is obvious if you already have anti-fire and anti-magic, why should the former be hidden and the latter 2 visible? Maybe from all these hidden stats anti-poison should be visible alongside the other 2 antis too.

I do not remember exactly, but I think I had the impression that in FTL-DM water/food-decrement has been dependent on how strenous activity a character had been performing (that is how much stamina he had to regenerate). No matter whether I'm correct with this assumption in regard to FTL-DM, I would like to suggest this for RTC.

RTC has done this since V0.0 (and it's configurable for each attack method too)...

Very well. But I my recent games most of the times all the characters of my party had exactly or nearly exactly the same water/food-decrement. How can that be if it's activity-dependent and the characters have been engaged in pretty different kinds of activity and have different hidden stats?

Well, it could be one of two things

1) The way you play DM (at such a high difficulty level) is bound to be different from everyone else. Have a go at ordinary difficulty and see what happens.

2) The drain isn't high enough - have a fiddle with the "energy used" parameter for attack methods in the editor. If you find better values to use for anything let me know and I'll adjust them.

I think the general average drain is quite ok. Not to much and not to less. Maybe the diffierences between individual activities' energy used parameter should be increased a bit without changing the average total drain (so increasing the decrement for a couple of activities and decrease it for another couple of activities). I will start a new low-level game some time soon to get an idea what activities might be modified in what matter.

I have the impression, that different kinds of activities do not count because if you really effieciently use all of your characters no matter a what level, they will be regenerating stamina all the time, and thus will use up the same amount of water/food all the time . The question remaining is, if there actually is a secret water/food-decrement stat, how is that counted in and why doesn't it make a stronger individual difference?
