For Ros level 07 the Encyclopaedia shows 2 different variations for the north-eastern part, the Amiga and the ST variation. The latter features an additional lock that allows to open the door that is otherwise opened by removing the cloak of night, even while the cloak of night alcove is sealed off by a wall, and there is one removable wall less in the zigzag corridor with all those death nights and stone piles.
While I'm normally rather with the Amiga version, in this case I would like RTC to rather use the ST variation, because imho it just makes more sense. If the random teleporters do not let you start Ros at the "Give up, pull the lever" part, an entire part of Ros will be sealed off in the Amiga variation, denying you access to lots of monsters, 2 of them carrying keys, the cloak of night, the crossbow and some minor treasure. Other pathes mostly allow to get everywhere no matter where the random teleporters make you start, as does the ST variation of Ros.

CSB Ros access (ST vs Amiga versions)
Parting is all we know from Heaven, and all we need of hell.
Yes, but even if you figure them out, in the Amiga variation that part of Ros will be still sealed off while you approach from the wrong end of Ros. Since the Atari variation is very much official it also wouldn't be un-DM to favour it before the also official Amiga variation in this special case.

It's not as terminal as you make out. I'm not sure what the original game did, but in RTC if you go back to the JoW then *each time* you've still got a 1/3 probability of getting to that place.Lunever wrote:If the random teleporters do not let you start Ros at the "Give up, pull the lever" part, an entire part of Ros will be sealed off in the Amiga variation, denying you access to lots of monsters, 2 of them carrying keys, the cloak of night, the crossbow and some minor treasure.
So, if you don't get there first time, you can try again on subsequent occasions. Specifically, there's nothing stopping you clearing out the whole dungeon on any game.
