Fallen at the last hurdle

Post by spanky »

Hi chaps

So, having spent hours and hours looting dungeons, getting lost and fending off some pretty tough characters I make it to the level of the Firestaff with all the Rah keys I need...and now I'm stuck!

So all three Rah doors are open and I'm now in a long corridor with lots of locked doors - there is one grated door with a stone golem behind it. I cant open any of these doors. In the walkthrough it just says, 'find the last door on your right..one of your keys should open it' - well, none of my keys do!

Can someone tell me exactly where this key is? I just don't have the heart to go back down there again with the rats, spiders and elementals - and if I have to, I don't want to wander around aimlessly.

Many thanks in advance for your help and indulging my denseness.

Well, for the tomb of the firestaff you need several keys:

1) 3 Ra-keys; 1 you find in the altar of vi near the end of level 02 ("Choose your door, choose your fate - the one with stone piles, antmen and mummies), 1 at the fountain near the end of level 08 (the one with pain rats and rusters, near to the long staircase), and 1 in an alcove near the beginning of the western part of level 11 (the one with the animated armours and materializers). Seems you got them and used them already.

2) The ruby key, which can be found in a teleporter roundabout at the end of level 10 (the one with the water elementals, wasps and antmen). It is locked by a wall eye, that you need to convince to grant you access by clicking the magnifier found near a shortcut teleporter in the level above; some versions also allow you to use a mirror of dawn instead). That's probably the one you are missing.

3) The master key, which is found near the end of level 11 (the one with the animated armours and materializers). You'll need that one later.

A) You need to open up the first 3 Ra-doors to gain access to the main part of the level (seems you have done that already).

B) To your left you can open 2 Ra-doors in series by pushing their buttons, and kill 1 stone golem behind each of these 2 Ra-doors in order to get access to the Inquisitor sword, but you don't have to do that part to solve the game. The sword is very good though.

C) You leave the 4 turquoise locks to your right aside, and open up the ruby lock to get into the laboratory. In the laboratory there are 2 hidden buttons, one will grant you access to a shortcut to the long staircase (that shortcut has another secret button that will open up a hidden room containing the winged key that will grant you access to the dragon's lair without having to pass the demons' abode), and another one that will grant you access to some secret documents and another Ra-key. You will also find a turquoise key. However, since there are 4 turquoise locks and only 1 key, you will only be able to recover 1 out of 4 treasures. If you already found the other 3 pairs of boots of speed, I recommend taking the last pair of boots of speed (assuming you are playing with 4 characters) - this will extremely speed up your party.

D) Use the Ra-key from the laboratory to open the last Ra-door remaining; follow the long passageways to finally get to the master lock that will grant you access to the firestaff if you open it with the master key. However, doing so will also release the 2 stone golems from their guard positions.

E) Done? Well, you still need the powergem in order to enable the firestaff to banish Lord Chaos...

Note - the circular teleport bit where you get the Ruby Key is named "Zoooom".

Actually, it is not Ameena - "Zoooom" is the teleport-roundabout one level higher. The room with the Ruby Key doesn't have a specific name.

Yep. The "Zooooom" is on level 09 (the one with scorpions, wizard's eyes, gigglers and skeletons) and contains only a Ful-bomb, a water flask and a cheese (aside from that you have to proceed through it).
The teleportation roundabout with the ruby key however does have a descripting wall text too, it says "Enlarge my view".
