playing DM Snes

Post by linflas »

.. for the first time !
i found that monsters and a few other things where different from computer versions so i decided to have a deeper look at it..
my first impression is : how people can play DM with a pad ?!! with the emulator, i use keyboard instead and that's really hard to use but finally, i like it as a new challenge.
first, you cannot do the classic fighting-dance and so you have to face monsters and be hit often.
secondly, you -must- use freeze boxes : i haven't used them since my original play on Atari ! :)
i noticed a few differences also in the levels, such as keys at different places, new doors..

and i -will- grab all monster bitmaps !!!! :D

you can grab the bitmaps already with either SCK or Kentaro's tool -- I think I have them somewhere.

Yeah, I played it on an actual SNES a few years back when I was in my ill-advised "spend huge amounts of cash on DM stuff for no good reason" phase.

I found it slow with the snes pad but you get used to it after a while and the auto-centering of the cursor on the next logical thing was quite useful. Still, it's very slow to play and not a patch on the original experience -- most of the music was rubbish too.
