Dungeon Master on the BIG screen

Post by Steve-B »

Erm. Before you get excited, this isn't about a new Dungeon Master movie or anything. I want to know who plays DM on a large LCD or plasma TV? This is something I have dreamed of doing for years now. Wouldn't it be great? A PC with the latest WinUAE and Dungeon Master 3.6 connected to a nice large LG TV.

So I lay down a challenge to all dnugeoneers. Who can claim to play DM on the biggest screen and more importantly what does it look like? Do you feel more immersed in the Dungeon Master world? Are the graphics almost too big that they look blocky and ruin some of the believabilty of the game?

I'd like to know about your big screen DM adventures and would be interested in peoples opinions on the ideal screensize for DM and maybe even the ideal TV. :)

I'd like people to post pictures of DM in action on their big TV and also details of the TV spec and game versions tested.

What are the benefits or drawbacks of playing DM on a large screen? I look forward to your comments people. :)

i connected my pc to my 82cm diagonal lcd tv and played a few games, RTC included but what i best enjoyed was Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and Oblivion in 1360x1024 !
I remember playing DM and many games with my 1040ST or my A1200 connected to my parents TV which was quite big (something like 70cm diagonal), and the sound was redirected to their hifi. and it was real fun comparing to my 14' monitor :) but i mostly used this big configuration to compose music with Protracker during weekends afternoons.

I'd liken it to chess. You can play it on a board that fits in your garden but the math and feeling stays the same.... Don't think chess will be so pixelated though.

I'm testing the Uae4Wii with my Wii connected to my TV and I'm doing it obviously with Dungeon Master.

And it plays Wonder! Having it on a large screen and being able to play it sat on a sofa with the Wiimote is such a 8) way to play it!

Better yet, is it difficult to hook my computer up to run through a television?

I had an Atari ST, but never ran it through a television,
so I think I'd enjoy playing good old DM on the big screen.

Oh, and thanks Linflas, for the reference to Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and Oblivion.
I'll probably buy it for the PC, knowing I'll have to put together another computer to fit all the requirements on the PC version.
(unless it's just as good on the XBox 360, of course)
