I found the winged key in the tower of pits, but I can't find anywhere to use it. Can someone lend a hint?

Return to Morpanthrax, and try to think twice before entering the tower of loops.

I found the Square key hole that way, but the hole won't take the winged key.
Edit: Never mind.

So, did you find something interesting,
or do I need to be more explicit ?

No, I found it. My biggest problem now is that random spell fizzle bug that's present with this version of Conflux. I found the Witch or Archmage, one or the other, and I can't cast spells. He's tearing me to pieces.
Edit: He's history. Beat him with limited spells. It was a neat battle what with his invisibilty, darkness spells, dragon summoning, and turning the pillar to life.

I don't know how the new archmage is supposed to be fought.
There are a couple of things to do before reaching him, but I'll suppose
you're there already.
Your best friends in this fight are patience and dodging, if it's not too different from bugfix0 version.
Try to throw things at his face until he dies.

Can anybody else confirm the random fizzles? Do they happen anywhere anytime?
I don't have time to check by myself because I'm moving to Argentina, but if it's a big bug, I'll try anyway to fix it before leaving.

I found that they can happen anywhere, at anytime. It might last for a set duration because sometimes during the fizzles, a spell will work, then all the spells will work again. During this bug, the only spell that never fizzles is the light spell, luckily.
I don't know if it is something added to this version, but spells always fizzle infront of Vecna.

Random fizzles happened at archimage in the version previous to bugfix1.
I thought it was a feature, since it happened after a black screen and sound.
I don't think I got other random fizzles.

The archmage has a psionic attack that will cancel your next spell. So the fizzling shouldn't occur elsewhere.
Unless I gave this special attack to all the vexirks? That would be cool too.

I started getting random fizzles after getting Furx and the Sar shield.
I thought it was some anti-magic effect of the weapons... but maybe not....

Or maybe you have too many cursed weapons.

I just got the Coral Leg Plates, I have no cursed items, and the spell fizzle bug struck again.
Edit: Well, the Funereal One Ring is cursed, but I doubt that causes it. Strange that there are two of the "One" ring. Oh yeah, fizzles happened to me before I got the Furx and Sar shield.

Don't worry, I decided to take immediate action about this fizzling b... feature.
The official name of the current release is now ConfluxIII: the way of the warrior.

(I'll try to fix the fizzling effect tomorrow.)

Sophia, congrats for passing the rats! I thought the difficulty had definitely discouraged you long time ago.

Thanks :D
It had, but after reading the threads, I noticed the leveling up in some fo the early versions of III (which was the last I played) was bugged-- indeed, in this version, I could actually gain levels and had an easier time. In addition, I also think you've done a good job adding fair warning to some of the early nastiness. :)

Someone taught me most of the unlocked spells, too.

Hello,

I read something about unlocking spells in CIII, does it mean I can't beat MIPS riddle without discovering opening door scroll ? Can't find the spells, some are just fizzeling, pretty frustrating.

EDIT: ok, nevermind, found it by experimenting :D

8 points after like 15 hours of playing... AAAARGHHHHHHHH! Where is this damned fireball scroll ? And these ''all the time spawning mofo spiders", sigh. I wish I own this shit like I used in Conflux II. Wth, I am getting old or something ?

Gonna kill them all. Run for your lives !

EDIT: Oh yeah, is there a poison curing priest spell? Can't find any by experimenting (vi ew keep fizzleing), maybe scroll activated ?

Vi Ew has never been a curing spell !
The DM one was Vi Bro.
There's a scroll somewhere sensible that describes the serum's recipe.
I don't think it's locked though.
If you found the door opening, you probably can find the poison serum !

The fireball spell is the domain of the wizard...perhaps getting sufficiently advanced in the wizards ways will let you use this spell

And yes, from what I remember the anti-poison is not locked, it is I believe different but still logical

And yes, vi ew is a totally different spell, has never been cure poison, but you will be one of the few who got advanced warning of this spell...if you can realise when you need it :D

Hehe, Vi Ew is one of the few spells I have NO idea what it does in Conflux.

Lol, when you find a certain area, you will.

I wondered why you had no idea about there being a use for cursed items!

Erm, if you're talking about the far fetched way to obtain ven bombs...
That's not what I call useful

I thought you were talking about potentially red herring ven bomb recipe (using a cursed item)
Spores are energized with some other spell, and I think the curse spell isn't used this process

Hmm, I have just got 1 more point when was running through sewers and killed some wandering thief, he dropped the thorn. Loaded a game and could not recreate the event. A bug or ?

Edit: made it again, getting a point only when I lure him near the pit D area

Oh btw,

"in the room down the pit beside 'more supplies for the strong' is a puzzle to get the long lost wand"

I remember this pit, but now when I came back to finally try it I can't find the damn room. Was it in Cellar ? I put the scroll with "More supplies for the strong" at totally different place and now somehow cant find this pit.

EDIT: Allright, I guess the wall was closed cos I somehow opened it and entered the wand area again. No idea how I solved this wand riddle in CII, heh.

EDIT 2: yea, although I finally got it I still dont know what is the exact mechanism behind the pulling it out from its hiding place, tried putting some items in the niches, interacting with fountain but it does not seem to do anything, every time I could just pull it out eventually after some time

EDIT 3: hmm, if I throw any object at the right place and start to "chase it" trying to grab it at the corners I can pick it after 1 lap, okaaaay, someone explain me the logic of this quest; and if I do it with the wand itself it just dissapears and its over, cant get out :)

EDIT 4: okaaay, no need for items, just move from some point to another and another and I can pull it out, still same effect with items, is this bugged or something, someone explain it to me, could understand if this wand was pullable at once but no, at least not in my game, sigh

You discovered a bug before then, the entire idea is that you have to chase it around the room ,and eventually it gets placed into the niche

Another question, I am not getting any point by getting into the time machine, just got point for the earning wisdom (by picking up the correct item, ealrier at the one of the paths in the Temple). Is it normal ? Seems not according to one of your old post (the one about just entering it).

Edit: Well, just checked the updated list of quests, guess there is no more point for entering the time machine, anyone can confirm it ?

It me again, got into the power gem room, and there is a gate blocking the stairs going down, any hints on how to open the gate. All that work to be stoped by another door is frustrating. thanks for your help
