Aaahhh! THX!

Some steps away I can get keys, and somewhere is the Lock.
And now I can imagine why I didn't saw this in the old game - because I had a correct key and used it before I solved this quest.

Got it!
(By the way, you were not really right -(

one must step to the right, door in the back, then you reach the corridor with the keys.

Sometimes (nothing special done) everything flashes in rainbow colours like my party is stoned... After some time it's over, no matter my party has gone to sleep or not.
Does anybody know anything about this effect?

this cool yet disturbing effect has something to do with the digestion of harmless looking ,spongy food.

Well, it should be spongy normally, but it might be a little bit more slid and...stoned..itself

I've been exploring Moria for days now, literally. I've fought Smaug, found the One Ring; and even dropped down the wrong pit that eventually led me to a flaming area filled with fire elementals & what looked like Grell's from D&D. Bad place, that one. So anyways, now I'm back in Moria; and I'm a tad stuck.

"The Earth is my Lord, The Water is my Vassal". I'm clueless what this is supposed to be, so I'll go wandering around. By the way, is it supposed to be this easy to get utterly lost in Moria? I typically have no idea where I'm at, and I just know that Zyx is evil enough to actually put a balrog in here. If that's true, I'm sure I'll find it & get slaughtered. Looking forward to it.

Yes, it is supposed to get lost in Moria. I remember wandering around it for days as well. I have no clue about the riddle you mention, but rest assured that your fears are justified. As for finding an exit, I was once told there are several ones, but I only found one. If you don't have a dwarf with you, you will sadly get no clues. Explore the sudden ways down...

one exit is right beside where you came in

another is through that riddle. think big, think really big. then look for something small that might be equivalent

Is it possible that the Emerald Forest is much harder when you have Chief Guild members in your party?
As I remember it was easier when I did it first with a normal party...

It might be harder because in DM it's usually better to have a very weak party and train them up than to start with more powerful characters. Unless the more powerful characters are generously stated.

Also depends when you last played the game, it might have got harder?

Yea, your two initial guys will probably be much tougher than your guild leaders.

Can't you just kill your guild leaders ahead of time once they've cast some rotective spells, then enter the forest with your original two guys?

Hi folks, new here.

So I've been playing and enjoying and indeed screaming in frustration at this game for the last few days and it's really well done. Congrats.

Ermm, now I haven't got too far in (I'm simply not that good at DM, despite enjoying it alot) but started a new game and things are going pretty well now (just got the compass and finally have skills going towards artisan (except wizard, bah). My question is, has the spell to weaken non-material creature changed? I'm sure in my first attempt at the game it was the same as always but this time it gives me the 'meaningless' spell text. I even checked up to make sure I was getting it right, heh. Means all those lovely water elementals are killing me, ah well.

Any advice...I'm really hoping I don't have to restart...

Thanks in Advance.

Welcome to the forums! You don't have to feel bad for not being too far in Conflux, many people broke down in tears and shelved the game much sooner!
Yes, the spell to weaken non-material beings has indeed been changed. It costs a little more mana now, but it is not 100% new... I hope this clue helps you, I'm being deliberately vague so I won't spoil the whole fun for you. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like!

Ah, thanks for that, I wonder what on earth I was casting in a previous game then? Must have confused the water elementals with me casting the same useless spell at them over and over, heh. Will I find a scroll telling me the spell? (I'm trying not to just go through all the spells, I figure I may be told them before I really need them and if that's the way it was designed that's how I'll try and play it).

I think I'll try and avoid that part of the sewers then, maybe try the temple and see what happens there (I think I'll get eaten, heh).

On a random note, if I wear gauntlets to attack do I gain warrior on ninja levels? And is there any point in wearing them?

Cheers

Yup, you eventually get told all the spells. Infact, some spells you need to find the scrolls to unlock them! (Like a certain spell that rhymes with direfall)

Temple is pretty tough, I'd keep on with the sewer and investigate the very top level and the cellar fully first!

Gauntlets have some small boon against certain enemies. I think a gauntlet punch still gives you fighter levels, though I will not swear Zyx hasn't tweaked that,

Hello, first time posting. I've been reading these forums, and the dmweb.free.fr site, for about 9 years now.

Conflux is a great creation.

I have a few questions on some weird stuff that's happened to me.

I haven't gone very far. I think I have about 8-9 points on the scroll. I've only really fully explored the cellar, sewers, and parts of the spider and dwarven levels.

Earlier on, I had enough throwing stars to get quite far in the ninja guild. I opened a door with some gigglers and quickly dispatched them. Coming out of the ninja hallway into the main chamber, I was pretty much immediately annihilated by some chuckling wizards. I decided to reload and not open that door until I was quite a bit stronger.

Cut to a few level ups later, I decide to open the giggler door again. Readied myself then went back to the main guild section - no wizards. Huh. However, I have noticed that my shield was taken out of my hand, and no where to be found. Was not on the ground in the small room with the gigglers. Re-loaded and opened the door again, taking out the gigglers as quickly as I could. This time, an arrow has been lifted from one of my characters and is not anywhere on the floor. Decided this was an acceptable loss and continued on.

Can gigglers permanently steal / destroy items? Or in my haste to blow them up, did one of them get teleported elsewhere in the dungeon and I didn't notice?

Also - do rat steaks make effective helmets? Insert meathead joke here :D

This is an excellent dungeon. DM was a favorite growing up. Conflux holds my attention better these days than WoW, Oblivion, et al.

Hello! Thanks for coming out of lurking mode :)

Gigglers can steal items on the floor. And the gigglers have a means of escaping the guild level if you let them get too far out, I think. Or perhaps the vexirks do... I forget.

I think the rat steak is a joke, not a protection, but then Conflux alters each iteration so who knows if it has some form of effect now...

Cool, another new member, welcome! :)

I remember using a steak as a helmet and sending a savegame to Zyx - he laughed at the steak. This could either mean that the steak is indeed useless as a helmet, or that Zyx just enjoys laughing at players. Personally, I think it's a joke.

As far as I know, I have never had any monster leaving the guild level, but since Beo knows Conflux better than me, it's probably better to trust him.

I've had a clockwork knight disappear on me in the guild level so there must be at least one invisible teleporter!

Bump !
Spoiler
I've got a winged key from the spider level. I wonder if it's any use. I read above that it's supposed to be a mampang stuff, but i've started over with only iaido and i'm WAY far from reaching mampang !

Actually, that might be a 'bug', using the same key for two wildly different areas. I know the winged key doors usually can be cracked by iaido, so it could well be you'd already picked the lock that would be useful for. Wasn't there a winged key door in the cellar that let you bypass the efreets?

I have no idea what a sar key is, so perhaps I am wrong and the winged key is special in a few places. I haven't played the latest version or two!

A sar key is what leyla has as a starting item (ninja guild): A black key loosely looking like the symbol of sar.
i won't restart a game for that, i guess there are other solutions. i already have like 10 bags full of keys anyway.

There are a lot of generators but at some point they don't create that much enemies. Especially once you have defeated the "gnoll nest" (where a mace is found).

I'm not sure about it, but the more you use the stairs down to the sewers, the more you meet blue gnolls.

So, avoid uselessly going up and down those stairs.

If memory serves, that winged key was used in the cellar, but Iaido can pick that lock. So yeah, you wasted a SAR key, but look at the upside: you may now bypass the tower of pits in Mampang... :/
